The Homeless backpack intitiative
During times when we are not deploying to provide disaster relief, we participate in our Homeless Backpack Initiative.
We are asking for your support to assemble a backpack with new and unused items that adult men and women would find beneficial to use on a daily basis. The average cost of each backpack should be approximately $20. After assembling the backpacks, the volunteer members of Maryland Emergency Response will visit homeless areas of Baltimore and Washington, DC to deliver the items. your tax deductible, monetary donation will go a long way to providing basic items of daily living to those in need.
We fill the packs with items such as:
Notebooks
Pen/Pencils
Puzzle Books
Gloves/Scarves/Hats
Bottled Water/Reusable WaterBottle
Socks
Toothbrush/Toothpaste
Underwear
Wet Wipes
Peanut Butter
Saltines
Granola Bars
Toilet Paper
Bar Soap
Flashlight
Batteries
We do not include items such as alcohol, hand sanitizer, razors, knives, or anything where one could do harm to oneself or others.
Please contact us below for more information.
Thank you for your support!

campaigns
Thank you to those who donated supplies, money, and their time to
make this great event possible.
A group of MER volunteers gathered to distribute 125 backpacks to the homeless that come to the Manna House in Baltimore for a bite to eat. After they had their breakfast, we were there to give them a backpack filled with supplies. We'd like to extend a special thank you to the folks at Manna House for what they do on a daily basis and for giving us a safe venue for our volunteers to distribute the packs.
A few MER volunteers took to the streets of Baltimore to do a "drive and drop."
This is where we drive to areas of the city where the homeless are asking for help and hand the packs out to those in need.
This in an ongoing campaign, so please consider making a
tax deductible donation to this worthy cause.
Thanks again, very much!
